In 1977 Gene Hampton made a decision that would not only change his own life but the lives of his sons, and future generations of Hampton’s as well. After many years working for a Peoria IL company and gaining industry experience Gene was ready to strike out on his own. In October of 1977 Gene, along with his wife Minnie and their two sons Terry and Larry opened the doors to Hampton’s Kitchen’s and Appliances.
As business began to grow, and the hard work was beginning to pay off, the company out grew their Pekin location and moved to Peoria, finally settling in their current location at 7605 N. University. Today Terry and Larry oversee a thriving business focused on providing excellent customer service, and quality products for customers in all of the communities they call home.
Having grown to include stores in Bloomington, Champaign, and Springfield Illinois the success of Hampton’s Kitchens and Appliances is a testament to the vision of Gene and Minnie Hampton and the hard work of the over 50 employees currently working at Hampton’s. With future generations becoming involved in the family business the future of Hampton’s is as bright as the day it began. |
